3 biggest myths surrounding chemical peels

It is not at all easy to make decisions these days because of the numerous myths and rumors being spread about all sorts of advanced skin care treatments these days, which often leave people confused as to how such treatments work and whether they do live up to their promises or not. So here are a few real hard facts about one of the most popular and effective skin care treatments which are offer in cosmetic clinics across Sydney and other parts of the country, i.e. chemical peels.

•    Myth 1: You can get back to work moments after a chemical peel treatment

Fact: This thing holds true in only those cases where superficial peel treatments have been given to patient. If you have opted for a medium or deep chemical peel, then you will have to spend a bit of time nursing your skin as it does require a bit of recovery period or downtime. The time you will be required to stay away from work would depend a great deal on the type of peel you have opted for. But in most cases, you will have to give your skin at least a few days time, if not weeks, for recovery. However, if you do not have problems walking around in the office with scaly and red facial skin, then you can return to work in a very short period of time.

•    Myth 2: It is absolutely fine to perform chemical or medical peels at home

Fact: Again a huge myth as not all types of peels are safe to be performed at home as medium and deep peel treatments do pose a risk of skin related complication if they are not performed by experienced hands and under the supervision of a qualified and experienced staff. If you are a bit too keen to do it yourself, then it is recommended that you at least seek advice from a an experienced medical professional who will guide you through each and every step of the process along with certain do’s and don’ts related to such peeling treatments for skin. And even the superficial peels can damage your skin as there exists no chemical peel treatment that can be called as 100% safe.

•    Myth 3: You get instant results

Fact: This is also a very popular myth but the fact remains that you will have to wait at least for a few days time to see the results as the chemical peel would make your skin look worse before the results.
